How to Select Peaches
When selecting peaches, firstly smell the fruit. As peaches are a member of the rose family, should exude a pleasant sweet fragrance.
Look for a creamy gold to yellow under colour. Note that the red or “blush” of a peach is an indication of variety rather than ripeness.
Peaches should be soft to the touch yet not mushy. Take care to not squeeze peaches as they bruise easily
How to Store peaches
Firm Peaches will ripen better when placed on the benchtop at room temperature. Once ripe however, it is best to immediately refrigerate them. Peaches are best eaten within a week of purchase.
To peel a peach, dip it into boiling water for 30 seconds, then in cold water. The peel should slide off easily.
