It’s been a bumper season for quality flavour-packed Nectarines and Peaches. The luscious juicy fruit is now coming from Swan Hill and Shepparton. Make the most of fruit while they’re in peak supply!

Send the kids back to school with thirst-quenching grapes. Loaded with natural sugar, Grapes are a smart buy this week. Sunraysia grown grapes are plentiful and the quality is first-class.

Select plump, rosy skinned Lychees that feel heavy for their size. Store Lychees in an airtight container in the fridge; use within 2 days of purchase.

There are lots of Mangoes currently available in store including a few new varieties. Keep an eye out for Shelly, which also joined by Brook and Honey Gold.

Perfect for drizzling over yoghurt, ice-cream and desserts, Passionfruit is the ultimate summer fruit. Select plump Passionfruit that feels heavy for its size. Slightly wrinkled skin means that it’s ripe and ready to eat.

Luscious plump raspberries are at their best. Before buying, check the underside of the punnet and avoid squashed berries. The smartest way to store raspberries is to place them on a plate lined with paper-towel, covered with plastic in the fridge. Use within 1–2 days.

Golden-fleshed Pineapples are picked ripe and ready to eat. The whole Pineapple can be kept for a few days at room temperature but ensure that you wrap cut Pineapple in plastic wrap and store it in the fridge

Juicy orange-fleshed Rockmelon is picked ripe and ready to eat. For best eating, choose a rockmelon with a fragrant aroma that gives a little when pressed around the stem.

Chill out with watermelon. Watermelon is picked ripe and ready to eat. Choose cut watermelon with bright pink flesh. Rich colour is a good indication of sweetness. When whole, tap the watermelon and it should sound hollow. Seedless watermelon has small edible seeds and is a good choice for kids.

Medium and small-sized Fennel bulbs are ideal for adding finely shredded to a summer salad.

Snakes Beans continue to be a great buy. Ideal for Asian dishes and stir-fries, snakes are complemented by flavours, such as garlic, ginger, tomatoes and fresh herbs.

Choose the crispiest baby Cos lettuce and store in a plastic container in the fridge. Top tip: Don’t store lettuce next to apples, pears or melons in the fridge as these fruits will cause the lettuce to deteriorate rapidly.

Versatile Eggplants are a superb buy this week! Fresh, young Eggplants do not require, salting unless you intend deep-frying them. Cut Eggplant into 1 cm slices brush with olive oil and grill until soft and golden. Use in a vegetable lasagne instead of pasta, add to a pizza topping or bake and add to summer salads.

When it comes to Fresh Herbs and Leafy Greens, high humidity is having a short-term impact on the quality. Leafy greens, like Spinach, Coriander and Rocket should be purchased and used with on the same day as they are currently not storing well.
