Blueberries, they are tasty, healthy and really well-priced at Fred’s One Stop this week 

QLD Strawberries are plentiful right now with great colour and flavour. Spoon stewed or microwaved strawberries onto porridge for breakfast or dip in chocolate for a special treat. 

Blood Oranges are ultra-juicy. Select plump fruit with ruby-red tinged skin. Fruit should feel heavy for its size and have a firm skin. This Fennel, Chicken and Blood Orange Salad is delicious and easy to make

At Fred’s One Stop you will find quality, versatile Lemons. Drizzle Lemon juice over casseroles or soups just before serving to liven up the flavours. Use finely grated Lemon rind mixed with finely chopped flat-leaf Parsley and crushed Garlic in a Gremolata to sprinkle over crumbed Lamb cutlets or Osso Bucco 

Quality Rhubarb is in good supply. Stew chopped Rhubarb with Strawberries, a little Castor Sugar and the juice of one Blood Orange. To serve, layer Vanilla Yoghurt and the cooked Rhubarb mixture into serving glasses 

There are good supplies of Passionfruit at Fred’s this week. Team Passionfruit with Roasted Pears and Honey 

Beurre Bosc Pears are plentiful and good value. Thinly slice firm Pears and add to a salad with Rocket and Parmesan Cheese or poach Pears for a quick dessert. 

Quality Hass Avocados are good value. Their creamy texture and smooth-nutty flavour teams deliciously with Tomatoes, Ham, Prosciutto, Green Onions, Lemon and Pepper.  Team Avocado with Citrus and Fennel in a winter salad or serve Avocados with Chilli Con Carne. 

Granny Smith and Golden Delicious are top cooking Apples that when stewed together with a little sugar, are ideal for pie fillings or for serving with your porridge for breakfast. Swirl some cooked apple through natural yoghurt. 

When it comes to eating apples Red Fuji and Pink Lady Apples are the pick of the crop this week at Fred’s One Stop 

Red Capsicums are sweet-eating while Green Capsicums remain a Top Buy! Add Capsicum to Pizza toppings, Stir-fries, Salads and Char-grills 

Cauliflowers are a thrifty buy! Enjoy Cauliflower roasted or grate to make a Cauliflower Couscous. 

Super nutritious and versatile Broccoli from Victoria and QLD is a bargain price. Whip a batch of these oven baked Broccoli & Cheese Fritters

Top-quality Globe Artichokes are now in season. Boil trimmed Globe Artichokes until tender, then, slice and combine with diced tomatoes, Baby Bocconcini, Parsley, Pepper and Olive Oil to serve with crusty bread. Zucchinis are a good buy! 

Mild sweeter tasting Leeks are ideal for flavouring Casseroles, Soups and egg-based dishes such as Quiche and Frittata 

Ultra-healthy and super tasty Brussels sprouts are in season. Tip: select Brussels Sprouts that are a similar size to ensure that all Brussels Sprouts cook in the same amount of time
