BAKED APPLES

“Perfect treat all year long”

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 Granny Smith apples
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup sultanas
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
  • 2 tablespoons slivered almonds
  • 1 teaspoon mixed spice
  • Low-fat custard to serve

METHOD

Step 1

Preheat oven to 180ºC Using a small sharp knife, carefully remove the core from each apple making sure to leave the apples whole with bases intact. Drizzle lemon juice into each apple cavity. Place the apples upright in a ceramic or glass baking dish

Step 2

Combine almonds, sultanas, sugar, vanilla essence and spice. Spoon the sultana mix into the centre of each apple before covering with foil. Bake 15 minutes then remove the foil. Bake another 10 -15 minutes or until the apples are tender

A scrumptious dessert when served warm with custard
